I still haven’t seen the original Mobile Suit Gundam series. But when I heard of the Dendrobium and saw what it looks like, I was suddenly interested on watching Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory. The title is catchy enough to get me hooked, as the 13-episode OVA was fast-paced and was well-animated. There’s no Newtype-powered hero pilot, just an ordinary guy that’s not skilled enough in the first place, but was responsible enough to accept his fate and take the responsibility to right the wrongs he did.
While I own the Master Grade Gundam GP03S Stamen and has always loved how unique it looked, the GP01 Zephyranthes is the original main guy. And its design almost made me buy a Master Grade GP01 to go with the GP03S, until the Real Grade version of the GP01 was announced.
The Real Grade version was an updated look for the GP01 but with added details and with completely-colored parts for all of the armor pieces. It was tough to pass.
This kit was released simultaneously with its mid-series upgrade, the GP01 Full Burner. This kit was purchased impulsively during my 27th birthday at ColdFire Gundam’s store in Greenhills, in exchange for the High Grade Gundam AGE-1 Full Gransa which I originally ordered.
Back in December 2013, Bandai resumed making waterslide decals for their released kits and I was lucky enough that they decided to include the decals for this RG GP01. The decal set was bought from Hobbyists Collectibles Gundam Tamiya.
The kit was assembled a few days after its purchase and was left inside the box, undecided what to do with it. I finally decided to fully paint it when the decals were announced. Hence here it is, after almost five months.
