Mobile Suit Gundam UC episode 7 ranks #3 at Japanese Box Office.

The seventh and final volume of Mobile Suit Gundam UC premiered on 35 screens on Saturday and ranked third in Japan’s ticket sales for the weekend, after Disney’s Frozen and the live-action Thermae Romae II. The film sold 98,208 tickets and earned 157,182,200 yen (about US$1,551,00).
The 90-minute episode, titled “Niji no Kanata ni” (Over the Rainbow), also screened in advance at Tokyo’s Shinjuku Piccadilly theater, Osaka’s Namba Parks Cinema and Osaka Station City Cinema, and Nagoya’s Midland Square Cinema on May 16. A stage greeting event with cast and staff members was held at Shinjuku Piccadilly and streamed at the other locations.
Theaters sold advance copies of the Blu-ray Disc, and other retailers will offer a home video release on June 6.
The Saturday premiere also featured a 90-second promotional video of the first part of the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin anime, which will open in theaters in Spring 2015.
The seven-episode video anime series debuted in 2010. Right Stuf and Sunrise are collaborating to release the series on DVD and Blu-ray in North America with the English dub.

『機動戦士ガンダムUC』最終章 動員ランキング初登場3位
福井晴敏氏による小説『機動戦士ガンダムUC』をアニメ化したシリーズ最終章『機動戦士ガンダムUC（ユニコーン）episode7 ｢虹の彼方に｣』が、興行通信社による5月17・18日の週末『全国映画動員ランキングトップ10』に3位に初登場。17日より全国35スクリーンで公開され、土日2日間の成績は動員9万8208人、興収1億5718万2200円をあげた。
劇場作品『機動戦士ガンダム 逆襲のシャア』から3年後の世界を舞台に、物語の重要な鍵を握る“ラプラスの箱”の謎と、それを巡って激化する戦いを描いた作品。
公開前日の16日には、東京・新宿ピカデリーの全スクリーンをジャックした“前夜祭”イベントも実施された。本編上映に劇場限定Blu-ray、劇場限定ガンプラ、劇場プログラムがセットされた1万5800円のチケットにもかかわらず、全スクリーン分（約2700席）が完売する人気ぶり。古橋一浩監督、原作者の福井氏、 脚本のむとうやすゆき氏、プロデューサーの小形尚弘氏（サンライズ）が全スクリーンを回る舞台あいさつも行われた。
同週末の『全国映画動員ランキング』は、全国670スクリーンで公開中のディズニー映画『アナと雪の女王』が土日2日間に動員59万2173人、興収8億710万7900円をあげ、首位を独走。2位は阿部寛、上戸彩らが出演する『テルマエ・ロマエII』。4位は公開5週目の『名探偵コナン 異次元の狙撃手』だった
