Fans of the wildly popular pirate manga and anime “One Piece” will be counting down the days to spring 2015, when the first official “One Piece” theme park opens in Tokyo Tower.
Announced on the official website, the theme park will feature live events and attractions, and include a restaurant and a shop.
In addition to a teaser website for the theme park, more information will be updated in Weekly Shonen Jump comic anthology, where “One Piece” is serialized.
There have been “One Piece”-themed attractions and art exhibitions, but the new theme park will be the first permanent venue for the franchise.
Entertainment company Amuse Inc. will set up a new company for the planning, development and operation of the theme park.
Meanwhile, a Taiwanese leg of a special “One Piece” exhibition is currently being held through Sept. 22 at Huashan 1914 Creative Park in Taipei.
Supervised by Eiichiro Oda, the author of the manga series, the exhibition was originally held in Japan to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the series.
