Psycho-Pass feature film adaptation to hit screens in January !!!
A feature film adaptation of the “Psycho-Pass” animated TV series will hit theaters in Japan in January.
The much-anticipated announcement came during the Psycho-Fes anime event held Sept. 26 at Pacifico Yokohama’s convention center.
The popular series originally aired for six months in October 2012. The second season, titled “Psycho-Pass 2”, started airing Oct. 9.
Although the release date was unveiled, other details involving the movie remain a mystery.
Key staff members who worked on the first season were replaced for the second. It is not known whether there will be another personnel reshuffle for the movie. The story could be either a follow-up to the second season or a completely new one. More updates are expected to come.
The story of “Psycho-Pass” is set in a near-future world where the probability that people will commit crimes is measured by the so-called Sibyl System, which enables law enforcers to crack down on potential criminals.
The first season follows the crime-fighting activities of Akane Tsunemori, a rookie inspector assigned to the Public Safety Bureau’s Criminal Investigation Division Unit 1, and Shinya Kogami, a highly skilled inspector whose “Crime Coefficient” index has risen so high that he also has a high risk of becoming a criminal.
Kogami disappears in the final episode of the first season. The second season will likely see a story focusing on Tsunemori one and a half years after the first season.
