The second episode of the four-part “Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin” animated series will premiere on Oct. 31 for a limited run at 15 cinemas across Japan until Nov. 13.
Subtitled “Artesia’s Sorrow,” the second episode will be simultaneously released on a streaming service and on Blu-ray, following in the footsteps of the first episode, “Blue-Eyed Casval.”
The story is set three years after Casval, aka Char Aznable, and his sister Artesia, or Sayla, escaped from the Side 3 space colony. They are once again targeted by the Zabi family’s evil schemes.
Meanwhile, the Side 3 colony has been renamed the Autonomous Republic of Zeon.
With Casval and Artesia trapped in another tumultuous time, the story is certain to keep fans captivated.
Thanks to the success of the first episode, “Artesia’s Sorrow” will be shown at two additional theaters, including one in the Miyagi prefectural capital of Sendai.
Priced at 10,000 yen ($81.50), a limited-edition Blu-ray set will be pre-sold at the theaters. The set will include a storage box with an illustration drawn by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, author of the original manga series and chief director of the animated adaptation.
It will be bundled with a collection of storyboards and setting art, a guidebook, a booklet and more.
