New Evangelion Films to Get PC Browser Game in 2012
The newly formed production company Marvelous AQL announced on Wednesday that a web browser game inspired by the new Evangelion films has been green-lit for production. The tentatively titled Browser Evangelion Shin Gekijōban game for personal computers was not revealed or leaked before its surprise announcement at Marvelous AQL’s press conference for new titles. However, Marvelous AQL did not provide further details about the game beyond its planned 2012 service launch.
The company Marvelous AQL just came into existence last Saturday, October 1. The media production company Marvelous Entertainment had announced in May that it would be merging with the game publisher AQ Interactive and the mobile app developer Liveware.
Evangelion Shin Gekijōban is Hideaki Anno and Khara’s four-part remake of Gainax’s Neon Genesis Evangelion television anime series. FUNimation Entertainment released the first two films on DVD and Blu-ray in North America after screening them in some theaters. (Animenewsnetwork, Anime Anime Japan)

ゲームタイトルは仮題として、『ブラウザヱヴァンゲリオン新劇場版（仮）』としている。本作の制作発表は、事前の告知がなくサプライズとして行われた。しかし、今回はゲームの詳細は全く明らかにされておらず、制作決定と2012年のリリース情報だけにとどまった。今後のさらなる情報が期待される。
ブラウザゲームはPCオンラインゲームの一種だが、これまで主流だったオンラインゲームは専用ソフトダウンロードが必要となるのに対して、ウェブブラウザを利用して手軽に楽しめる特徴がある。ゲームのカジュアル化の波に乗り、現在、急激に人気を集めている。
マーベラスAQLは、『ブラウザ三国志』、『ブラウザプロ野球』といった人気ゲームを展開している。同社の経営成長を支える分野である。この成長セクターに、アニメの大型タイトルを投入することになる。
『ヱヴァンゲリオン新劇場版』は、これまでもゲーム機ソフトやカジュアルゲーム、パチンコ・パチスロなど様々なかたちでゲーム化されている。今回は、PC向けブラウザゲームとしてファンへのリーチを狙う。
