Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) is participating in the “ONE TEAM PROJECT” of the Tokyo 2020 Participation Program, which is promoted by the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games Organizing Committee (Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee). “From space to Tokyo 2020 ale!” The second plan is “G-SATELLITE to space”.
JAXA cooperates with the University of Tokyo to send out a cheering message to the Tokyo 2020 Convention from space to the earth.
In “G-SATELLITE To Space”, the University of Tokyo will develop the ultra-small satellite “G-SATELLITE” equipped with GUNDAM and CHAR’s ZAKU of “Mobile Suit Gundam”. In addition, the G-SATELLITE will be released from the International Space Station (ISS) Kibo Japan Experiment Module into space around March-April 2020 (planned). During the period from before the Tokyo 2020 Games, a cheering message will be sent from the orbiting “G-SATELLITE”.
A small (10 cm x 10 cm x 30 cm) satellite “G-SATELLITE” is emitted from ISS. Gundam mounted on a satellite, Char’s Zaku “Gunpla” is stored in the cockpit when it is released into space. After “G-SATELLITE” got on the Earth’s orbit, the cockpit developed and became a mechanism that appears in space. Gundam and Char’s Zaku Gunpla, which uses materials and paints that can cope with harsh space environments, are equipped with a bulletin board that displays a message at the foot, and the eyes change to five colors of the Olympic color. In addition, as many as seven cameras will be installed on the ultra-small satellite “G-SATELLITE” to capture the situation.
※It is based on the satellite which confirmed the normal operation on the Earth orbit last year.
